About the recording
Siegfried Wagner wrote An allem ist Hütchen schuld! in 1914–15, a fairy-tale opera assembled from dozens of Grimm stories. It was staged in 1917 and then went largely unperformed for a century.
The production I sang in was mounted at the Markgräfliches Opernhaus in Bayreuth — built in the 1740s, one of the few surviving Baroque theatres in Europe, and a UNESCO World Heritage Site since 2012. The live recording, using a new critical edition of the score, became the first complete audio recording of the opera and was released by Marco Polo.
